Happy 2011 everyone!! This first week flew super fast, but I got to stuff lots of sock monkeys! There’s good news too. I have a new sock monkey with a hand-knit heart hoodie. Samie is inspired from the original Samantha Mars Sock Monkey, which everyone loves! I also listed new striped sock monkeys Haden, Jack and Maddy plus polka dot lady Roxy. My friend, who recently had a baby boy, created this “Woodland Creature” themed nursery with cute handmade toys, pillows, blankets and illustrations. It’s adorable! Meet Felix, the latest custom Mars Sock Monkey made for a soon-to-be-born baby boy! Felix wears a brown hoodie with blue & red striped sleeves with a cute little fox on the front. His hoodie also comes with fox ears to complement his woodland creature look, an awesome theme chosen by my client. Felix likes to roll in the grass, spring up from bushes and eat berries cereal. He is so cool!

I found a great sock monkey to match the newly designed mushroom sundress! Neve Mars Sock Monkey is made from a pair of white socks with thin purple, blue, silver and yellow stripes. Besides wearing a cute dress she also comes with a matching bow to adorn her head. She’s a doll! I lover her. :)

Here’s something I’d never made for a sock monkey before. It’s a knit romper with a pocket on the front, buttons on the strap and 2 smaller pockets on the back! This cool idea came from my Mom. She thought shorts would be perfect for summer and she’s right. Wearing a hoodie in the summer would be way too hot.
The best part about making this new piece of clothing was that it was very similar to knitting a sock. Using the “turning the heel” technique on the back made a nice little pouch for the monkey’s bottom. ;)

I just listed a new sock monkey for sale on Etsy! Apple Mars Sock Monkey comes with hand-knit green & pink heart hoodie and she’s made from a pair of kid size pink & brown knee-high socks. Unlike most other knitted hoodie Mars Sock Monkeys, Apple is not a custom sock monkey so anyone can purchase her. :)

My latest monkey Artie is a good example of a custom sock monkey with an initial hoodie. His hoodie includes two letters: an “A” on the front and an “S” on back. Each letter is also enclosed inside a heart, which was my client’s idea! Another interesting thing about Artie is that he was picked up by the buyer after I finished him. It was nice delivering Artie in person. :)
Later this week I’m listing a new sock monkey wearing a knit hoodie for sale in the shop. I’ll let you know when she’s ready!
